Project: Vande Mataram Auditorium
Client: Higher & Technical Education Department
Location: Aurangabad, Maharashtra
Status: In Progress
The design is a tribute to the national song. Interpretation of the excerpts of the song manifests the architecture of this centre.
An attempt is made to extend the brief from a mere auditorium to a performing arts centre. The presence of such a centre in the city would be a positive thrust in the field of creative performing art, with facilities like art gallery, permanent exhibition space, seminar hall, artist and v.i.p rooms, etc in addition to auditorium.
This creative ethos, be it in any field, more so in art, would be a humble gesture towards our holistic development, a salutation to mother earth.
The design explores the location of facilities to permit better interaction between artists with ease. This is achieved by locating the auditorium, seminar hall and amphitheatre along one side and the balance area on the other. Both facilities are connected with a plaza which becomes the focus of the scheme.
Back drop to the amphitheatre is envisaged as an iconic backdrop as viewed from outside as well as inside of the complex.
