Project: Primary & Secondary School
Client: Shiv Saraswati Foundation Trust
Location: Nashik, Maharashtra
By exploiting the contoured topography of the compact plot and the central tree, the architecture of this school chooses the path of simplicity, rejecting any unnecessary formal presentation, and set up in a relationship of its immediate context.
The three storied pre-primary, primary and secondary school building, which is generated by the composition of two distinct wings (housing the classrooms, teachers room, staircase blocks) and intersecting at the north-west corner catering to all the common activity areas (library, computer lab, laboratory) shows massive fronts to the streets and the foliage vis-à-vis rejoicing the central ‘tree court’ and outdoor play area.
Passages on the classroom entrance Side have security grille which highlights the façade with a metaphor of a “learning tree”- A feature with a strong organic imagery in sync with the surrounding.
